The Legend of the
Dragon
By: Tyler Nichols
There
once was a little dragon named Bob. Bob liked to play, fly, and start fires for
his dad. But little did Bob know that he was a foster kid. Unlike his father
who was a Lavaus Dragonus (That’s
scientist talk for Lava Dragon) Bob was a Teenyus
Dragonus (That’s scientist talk for Pigmy Dragon). Which meant that now
when he was only a kid, he was about the same height as his friends, but when
he got to be an adult he would only top five or six feet. While
his friends became 20 feet or so. But what Bob didn’t know that his
short height would cause the dragons to celebrate.
About
30 years later Bob and all of his friends were grown-ups. Finally, Bob has
noted that he probably isn’t the same species as his father. He was only six
1/2 feet high! While his father was a good 33 feet and eight inches high. All of Bob’s friends were at least 22 feet
high. Sometimes they would laugh at Bob because of how short he was, but they
were friends.
All of
them liked to destroy cities, set peoples hair on
fire, and flying along side jet planes and scaring the people out of their
wits. The group of friends had all moved just west of Vallhalla, which turned
out to be a bad idea. Every time that they tried to destroy the city, set
peoples hair on fire, or fly along side planes and scare people out of there
wits, a flying monkey with super powers came and put them back in their home.
One
time they even tried to move somewhere and rake havoc but that mean old monkey
(well that’s what the dragons called him any way) came and busted them.
One day the dragons were
lying around being bored when Bob had an idea.
“Who has the strongest
breath of us all?” He wondered aloud
“I do!” Joe said.
“No I do!” Sam said.
“No, I do.” Tom said calmly
(he was the biggest and oldest of the quartet).
“OK, maybe you are the
biggest and oldest Tom but that doesn’t mean that you have the hottest breath.”
Sam said, “You know why don’t we have a contest. Here
is how it will work. We will all go to that monkeys
house in Vallhalla and ask him for some big sheets of sheet metal. Then, we
will each blast one with our fire breath for 30 seconds and who ever makes the
biggest hole wins!”
“Good idea!” Bob said.
The dragons flew to Vallhalla and asked the monkey if they could barrow some
sheet metal that was about 10 feet by 10 feet. It turned out that Sam had the
best breath after he tied with Tom, so they had to go back and get two bigger
pieces of sheet metal.
“OK, now for the second
part of my plan,” Bob said, “first Sam you go start wrecking the city (But not
yet!) And that big monkey…
“Small
monkey!” Tom interrupted.
“Well
he is a big monkey to me! Anyway, Sam you go wreck the city and that big monkey
will come and throw you in jail…
“Hey,
and how come I have to go get thrown in Jail huh?
“Because
that’s why we had those tests. So the one with the strongest flame could melt
the wall and escape! Anyway the big monkey will come and throw you in jail wile
we go and sneak into the city and destroy it wile the big monkey is trying to
throw you in jail. So we all get to have fun.” Bob finished explaining his
plan.
“OK!” The other dragons all agreed. So the dragons
proceeded into the city and all went according to plan until there was only one
building left. The monkey lay on the ground flat as a pancake since Sam had
trampled him. All of the dragons were blowing like crazy even Bob. But the
building just wouldn’t budge or melt or do anything at all. All the dragons had
been able to burn down was the front door. Then Joe had an idea.
“Guys
stop blowing! I have an idea. Why doesn't Bob fly trough the front door and try
blowing it up form the inside!”
“Great idea Joe!” The other dragons said in unison. So bob
flew in though the door and sure enough the other dragons soon saw the metal
turning red as it heated up. It started to melt away and in a minute or so
there was a gaping hole in the building. Then all of the dragons got inside and
in one big huge breath they blew the building right down.
After that the dragon quartet celebrated and celebrated all day and all night. And they celebrated around Bob because he had the grand idea.
